COGEN Europe's Working Group 'Emissions Trading & CHP'

Introduction and Objectives

This Group addresses the relationship between the EU's proposed Emissions Trading Scheme and Cogeneration by

  • creating awareness of cogeneration as a fundamental measure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Europe;
  • monitoring the development of the Emissions Trading Directive and its implications for CHP;
  • following the creation of guidance on allocation of emissions allowances co-ordinated by the European Commission;
  • reviewing the implementation of the Directive and the development of national allocation plans in EU Member States;
  • developing lobbying positions of COGEN Europe
