| Introduction: |
The
planned European Emissions Trading Scheme will be a cornerstone
of the EU's strategy to combat global warming. Yet, a recent
assessment of COGEN Europe has identified some serious problems
for the future development of industrial and disctrict heating
CHP which the Scheme may imply unless additional mechanisms
are introduced. This event informed COGEN Europe Members of
the latest developments and on how CHP could be fully and fairly
incorporated into such a system. An introduction into the envisaged
Emissions Trading Scheme and its potential consecuences for
CHP during the morning was followed by presentations on concrete
solutions and operator's viewpoints in the afternoon.
