Description:

The strategic objective of EMINENT is to strengthen the European industry and policy institutions by establishing and operating a network that assesses results from science and technology research for the purpose of enhancing and accelerating the market introduction of energy technologies.
This objective of EMINENT will be met through:
- Promotion and dissemination of results of technology research and demonstration projects in energy technologies relevant to different regions;
- Complement and strengthen dissemination activities carried out within individual FP5 and FP6 projects;
- Combination of results from different projects and make (objective and unbiased) assessments of the technologies with the highest market potential as a basis for a thematic approach to promotion and dissemination;
- Cutting lead time for enabling technologies by securing the right means and measures when needed;
- Bridging the gap between European R&D centres and the European energy technology industry;
- At policy level, identification of existing needs and requirements relating to research, and to make appropriate strategic recommendations and key notes for policy documents.
EMINENT will operate as a horizontal action throughout all seven research-work areas as defined in Section 6.1.3.1 of the Work Programme: “Thematic promotion and dissemination”.
By accelerating the market introduction of early stage energy technologies with a large potential contribution to the European policy objectives, the security and diversity of supply is improved, while the economic costs and environmental impacts are to be reduced.
EMINENT will further contribute to an enhanced competitiveness of the European energy industry.
A consortium of European sector organisations and leading research institutes in the field of energy technologies has been composed to ensure that the tasks of EMINENT are completed. The consortium spans the EU-25, including representation from the new member states and the associated states.
