  • create a methodology to assess social and economic impactes of CDM-linked projects and to check benefits consistency with sustainable development priorities of the Sub-Saharan countries and investor interests
  • estimate the potential contribution of CDM in Sub-Saharan African countries to European Kyoto Protocol commitments and to provide a cost-benefit analysis for CDM in those countries
  • give European decision-makers a valuable instrument to chose between domestic policies and measures, Joint Implementation, Emissions Trading or Clean Development Mechanisms for commitments
  • contribute to a mapping of best geographical areas for EU CDM investments in Sub-Saharan Africa
